Add a deeper knowledge of the eight parts of speech to your Grammar Toolbox. Understand the underlying structure of language, thereby improving your command of English and ability to communicate in written form. Learn or review these parts of speech: nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, conjunctions, interjections, prepositions, and adverbs. We will also cover simple and compound sentence structures and sentence diagramming.. Each day we will focus on one or two parts of speech using the following class structure: learn and practice the information, reinforce the memory with movement-oriented activities, learn how to identify and diagram the parts of speech in sentences, work with the information in an imaginative way through creative writing and artistic projects, play games to review material, and then test the students’ understanding and memory with various assessment tools. Students will receive a comprehensive writing and grammar handbook to use in class and then take home afterwards.

*Lunch will be provided for all morning and all day classes from 12pm-12:45pm. Lunch supervision will be provided for students PreK-8th grade. Bon Appetit manages the OES Dining Hall and specializes in fresh, local ingredients. Please see the Summer Lunch tab or for more information.
